Privacy Policy

Last updated Friday 9 October 2026.

Our promiseWe will never sell your information, and we will never use what you tell us about your health for advertising.

The short version

  • We never sell your information.
  • What you tell us about your drinking and your health is used to support you, and it is never used to target advertising at you.
  • Only the people involved in your care see it: our team and, if you choose the medication route, our prescribing doctor and our pharmacy.
  • You can ask for a copy of everything we hold, or ask us to delete it, with one email.

Who we are

Rethink Drink Ltd ("Rethink Drink", "we", "us") runs rethinkdrink.co.uk. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 14619896, at Unit 11a Bow Court, Fletchworth Gate, Coventry CV5 6SP, United Kingdom.

We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.

We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZB760472.

For anything about your information, email [email protected] and put "Privacy" in the subject line.

If you live in Ireland, please read the privacy policy on rethinkdrink.ie.

What we collect

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and, where needed, your postal address.
  • What you tell us about your drinking and your health: in forms, on calls, in messages and in check-ins, including the medical questionnaire you complete before a doctor's consultation.
  • Booking and programme details: the calls you book, the programme you join and your progress through it.
  • Payment information: handled securely by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Calls and messages: phone calls with us may be recorded, and you are told at the start of the call. Some calls may first be answered by an automated assistant. Coaching calls are recorded and transcribed so you and your coach can refer back to them; tell your coach if you would rather a call was not recorded. We also keep the emails and messages you send us.
  • Community posts: what you share in our private members' community, if you join it.
  • Website information: if you agree to cookies, information about how you use this site.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To answer enquiries and arrange calls: because you have asked us to, and our legitimate interest in replying to you.
  • To provide your programme and take payment: to perform our contract with you.
  • Health information: information about your drinking and health is special category data. We only use it with your explicit consent, to support you and, if you choose the medication route, so a doctor can decide whether it is right for you. You can withdraw consent at any time; we will then stop using it, although we may not be able to continue supporting you.
  • Call recordings: our legitimate interest in giving you an accurate record of your coaching and in training and quality, with your consent where a recording includes health information.
  • Marketing emails: only if you have agreed, or if you have bought from us or asked about our services and we are telling you about similar services of our own. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Improving our website and marketing: with your consent, given through our cookie banner.
  • Keeping records the law requires, such as accounting records.

We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone.

Who we share it with

Our prescribing doctor. If you choose the medication route, your medical questionnaire and booking details go to our prescribing doctor, Professor Jonathan Chick, who decides whether medication is right for you. Professor Chick keeps his own clinical record under his own professional and legal duties.

Our pharmacy. If a prescription is issued, it is sent to our partner pharmacy, Porter Pharmacy (superintendent pharmacist Andy Porter), which dispenses and delivers it. The pharmacy receives the prescription and your delivery details, not your coaching notes.

Selected partners who help us run our service. We use carefully chosen providers for:

  • client management, bookings and our members' area;
  • communication tools, including email, phone, messaging and video calls, and call recording;
  • secure payments;
  • secure storage of our records;
  • AI tools that help our team with admin and with answering calls;
  • website hosting, technical support and, with your consent, website analytics and marketing.

They can only use your information to provide their service to us, under written agreements that require them to keep it secure and confidential.

We do not sell your information, and we never use what you tell us about your health to target advertising at you.

We may share information if the law requires it, or where there is a genuine risk to someone's life or safety.

Where your information is held

Some of our partners store information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure it is protected to the standard UK law requires, using the UK's approved safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a programme: 12 months.
  • Your client and coaching record: while you are a client, then 6 years.
  • Call recordings: 12 months.
  • Payment and accounting records: 6 years.
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe.

After that we delete the information or remove anything that identifies you.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies.

  • Essential cookies make the site work, for example forms, bookings and payments. They are always on.
  • Analytics and marketing cookies help us understand how the site is used and improve it and our marketing. They only run if you choose Accept.

Your choice is remembered so we do not ask on every page, and you can change it at any time with the cookie settings button at the bottom of every page.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it (including marketing, at any time), or give it to you in a format you can take elsewhere. You can also withdraw any consent you have given. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

Our services are for adults aged 18 and over.
